European Commission launches 2030 Consumer Agenda

On 20.11.2025, the European Commission unveiled its 2030 Consumer Agenda, a strategic plan for EU consumer policy over the next five years. The Agenda aims to boost consumer trust, ensure clear legal frameworks, improve enforcement, and simplify business processes amid rising living costs and the growth of e-commerce.

Key priorities include:

• Completing the Single Market: An Action Plan will remove cross-border consumer barriers and review the Geo-Blocking Regulation to prevent unjust discrimination.

• Digital Fairness: The upcoming Digital Fairness Act will protect consumers, especially children, from harmful online practices like dark patterns and unfair personalization.

• Sustainable Consumption: Efforts will focus on fighting greenwashing, promoting sustainable and repairable products, and supporting circular economy initiatives.

• Stronger Enforcement: The Commission will enhance rules to combat unsafe, non-compliant products and unfair competition, including revising enforcement regulations and possibly creating an EU market surveillance authority.

This Agenda balances consumer protection with competitiveness and social fairness, adapting to the evolving digital and economic landscape in the EU.
