The new Energy Law was published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of North Macedonia No. 101 of 21.05.2025. The law provides a series of legal changes to the current regulations, including increased use of renewable sources, higher energy efficiency and an open market where citizens will be able to be producers and sellers of electricity.
In the legal provisions, the legislator has paid special attention to the protection of vulnerable categories and the reduction of energy poverty, opening the market for fair competition and involving citizens as active participants.
The Law provides stable conditions for investments in solar and wind power plants, district heating, gasification and digital infrastructure. The main intention of the law is to encourage new domestic and foreign investments in the sector, as well as to provide affordable, stable and green energy for all citizens.
