According to the Law on amendments and supplements to the Law on minimum salary in the Republic of North Macedonia published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of North Macedonia no. 41/2022, it has been established that the amount of the minimum salary paid in gross amount for the month of March every year complies with:
– 50% of the increase in the average paid net salary in the Republic of North Macedonia, for the previous year, according to the data of the State Statistics Office and
– 50% of the increase in the cost of living index, for the previous year, according to the data of the State Statistics Office.
The amount of the minimum salary cannot be lower than 57% of the amount of the average paid net salary in the Republic of North Macedonia for the previous year, according to the data of the State Statistics Office.
The average amount of the paid monthly net salary for an employee who works less than full time is calculated in proportion to the number of hours worked in the month.
In the average amount of the paid monthly net salary for an employee, the salary supplement for overtime work is not calculated.
Ministry of economy and labor, after a previous opinion from the Economic and Social Council, publishes the amount of the minimum salary in gross amount in the “Official Gazette of the Republic of North Macedonia”, in the month of March every year, which will start to be paid with the payment of the salary for the month of March in the current year.
According to the provisions of the Law on Minimum salary in the Republic of North Macedonia, on March 26, 2026 in the “Official Gazette of the Republic of North Macedonia” no. 63/26, The Ministry of economy and Labor announced the amount of the minimum salary for 2026, which, unlike 2025, has increased.
According to the announcement, the minimum gross salary, starting from the month of March 2026, will be in amount: 38.507.00 MKD.
Hence, employers are obliged to calculate and pay the determined gross amount for 2026 of 38.507.00 MKD with the salary for the month of March 2026. According to the Law on Labor Relations, the salary for the month of March should be paid at the latest by April 15, 2026.
