The latest amendments and supplements to the Labor Relations Law introduce certain changes:
- In Article 104 of the Law, the word “other” is deleted.
- After this Article, a new Article 104-a is added, which refers to the continuation of the employment relationship of elected and appointed persons.
According to the new Article 104-a:
- Persons who hold office on the basis of election or appointment by a competent authority, in accordance with the law, may request the continuation of their office even after fulfilling the conditions for old-age pension, but up to a maximum of 67 years. For this, they should submit a written statement to the authority that elected or appointed them.
- This statement is submitted once a year, no later than August 31, for the continuation of their office in the following year.
In addition, persons who in 2025 will turn 64 years of age and will meet the conditions for retirement are given the opportunity to submit a written statement for the extension of the function within 30 days from the entry into force of the law.
The law shall enter into force upon its publication in the “Official Gazette of the Republic of North Macedonia”.
